PRESIDENTIAL predictions...let the prognosticators have their say!

my only prowess in making predictions stems from my 77-years of life in the united statesgrowing up under president truman, eisenhower, kennedy, nixon, .....etc.

etc.i was a widdle kid sitting in front of a tiny black and white tv set when the very first broadcastsof political conventions, deal-making, debates (nixon vs kennedy), assassinations (jfk, rfk, martin luther king, etc.

) i grew up with duck and cover under my elementary schooldesk, the cold war, the iron curtain, the korean war, the vietnam war and i went to federal prisonas a jw conscientious objector while hippies, flower children, political activists protested and universitystudents were fired up on by troops.i grew up reading newspapers (2 of them).

If they tried to get her to step aside and she resisted, it would have looked bad for the party to try to sideline a female POC.

Dems painted themselves into a corner by picking Harris for VP in 2020. At Biden’s advanced age they should have seen the high likelihood of him only being able to serve one term, which would leave the VP in a prime position to be the nominee in 2024. In 2020 she was humiliated on the debate stage and didn’t even make it to the first primary. Yet they chose her anyway, and Biden foolishly committed to choosing a “woman of colour” as VP leaving her as the only logical choice.

This series of poor choices for VP goes back to 2008 with Obama choosing Biden in the first place. He had to have known he was a potential successor and it set into motion everything that led to Harris eventually being the 2024 nominee.

American politics are full of poor VP choices - for BOTH parties. Agnew, Shriver, Mondale, Quayle, Gore, Kemp, Lieberman, Cheney, Edwards, Palin, Biden, Ryan, Kaine, Pence, Harris, and Walz - who might be the most head-scratching choice right next to Palin.

The inevitable upcoming book on the campaign complete with insider leaks of info are going to be harsh on the Walz pick and Kamala’s poor judgment leading up to it.

Historian and former JW Jim Penton dies

i don’t know a lot about james penton but i think he deserves a better thread than the one currently on offer.

james penton, who died recently, grew up in a jw family in canada and served as an elder.

unusually for a jw, he studied liberal arts at university and became a history professor.

Good summary of his life. I’d add that he spent time in Puerto Rico teaching and spoke Spanish fluently and possibly French as well due to his Canadian nationality.

I remember a passage in his book describing the Rutherford era disdain for marriage before Knorr informally changed it by getting married. There was a discernible pressure to pioneer and remain as one. So when him and his wife got married, many of their JW friends/relatives shunned their wedding in protest and went out in field service instead.

I am struggling to understand the thinking behind promoting Kamala Harris to the top of the ticket. She turned out to be precisely the person her detractors made her out to be. Certainly one of the worst candidates I’ve ever witnessed at this level - worldwide. I’m sure if they opened up the field and chosen at the convention, the consensus candidate would have shined.

She couldn’t and wouldn’t answer any questions and routinely deflected them! She refused to distance herself even partially from Biden whom she knew firsthand his weaknesses. Joe Rogan invited her on his insanely popular podcast and she put forth conditions she knew he’d reject. Her big closing argument? Townhalls with Liz Cheney - at the same time a war in the Middle East was escalating with the attack on Iran. Probably did wonders with Arab and Muslim voters. Did she pick an articulate and popular governor from Pennsylvania who could (would) have helped her win an important state? No - she chose a dumb-fuck governor from Minnesota of all places who wore camo hats, told overly-used American football anecdotes and couldn’t even hold a hunting rifle right.

Trump people - don’t get too cocky. This was an absolutely horrible ticket you ran against.

Imagine if instead of getting your customary 2% raise every year, you find out your salary is actually being cut by a few percentage points year after year.

The best Lloyd Evans meltdown video is not the livestream. It will be his “farewell and fuck you” video because he’s simply not making ends meet.

That’s a show I won’t miss.

Can we stop theorising that he’s gay then? He has an abnormally large head perched atop a huge frame with a clown nose. Yet he chooses a bow tie that is small and this emphasises his lack of balance and body awkwardness. A larger bow tie is necessary. The smaller one makes him look the pervert. This imbalance brings unwanted attention to his still prominent double chin.

No self-respecting gay man would ever dress this way considering the body he has to work with.

Not gay. Let’s stop insulting gays by comparing them to Jabba the Hutt.

In other words, any comment or opinion that isn't slavishly and unreservedly supportive of him will fall into the category of 'hateful/judgmental/abusive/invasive.'

He says this all the time because he well knows what his weaknesses are and how people have called him out for this. It’s like an abusive drunkard telling you “well I definitely enjoy adult beverages but I’m careful and drink responsibly!”.

This move back to X is made out of sheer desperation. He hopes he can reach a new audience there and fundraise off of it. As he approaches under 300 patrons, he’s undoubtedly feeling the pinch and wants back into the game. But he had the followers already on his old account and it was a mistake to delete it. Now he needs to start all over and I doubt he’s getting those numbers back anytime soon.

You can always count on Lloyd to make a poor decision and that rash and impulsive decision was one of them. He’ll be making cringe inducing posts and bringing his children in as human shields.

Life could have turned out completely different for all of them if he had been prowling somewhere else at the crucial moment.

He was prowling elsewhere and by his own admission never gave it up. He suckered Dijana into marrying him because she was the only available JW amongst his ~~targets~~ victims.

Today he has 309.

Up to 310. Still a new low.

I love how the goalposts are constantly being shifted:

February 2022 : I am heartened by the amazing support after this startling invasion of privacy! I have even gained supporters!

April 2022: Andrew Gold, the majority of my patrons have stayed with me and the few who have strayed are being misled by a defamation campaign. They are being sued for defamation. I dated a sex worker! Racists!

Sept 2022: Fuck you Kim, you have ruined me financially to the point of not being able to afford my daughter’s haircut and I will come to Australia to sue you if necessary.

January 2023: OK Patrons, I can’t pay my bills anymore. You guys need to up your pledges!

April 2023: You really need to listen to me now: I need at least 500 pledges to keep making video or I am done with saving lives. Preferably 620 because I have to pay Tibor and Dijana.

May 2023: Fuck all you haters, I have almost 700 pledges. I have won!

They'd been out of the religion for over a decade and they were even living with her JW parents,

He was more than living with them, he had other apostates from Europe convert his FIL’s basement into an apostate studio!

No JW I could think of would ever have allowed that. Couldn’t he have said “Sorry Lloyd, but I need a place for my tools”?

Only thing I could think of that would lead to such a scenario would be if he were constantly threatening to move them away with little to no contact with the grandparents. Which as a matter of fact, he was indeed making threats of keeping the kids from them.

He couldn’t have threatened them without the acquiescence of his wife who as the mother of those children and owner of half his assets had the power to block.

Throw aside your built-in biases regarding them being practicing JWs, everyone has the right to their privacy and personal space. He violated that in the worst way possible. Imagine setting up a pro-Trump podcast in the basement of staunchly liberal household. Not just any podcast, but the #1 MAGA information channel with millions of viewers and interviews with huge and influential voices on that side of the aisle.

If there is indeed a judgment day, Jehovah God might want more than a few words with Dijana’s parents.
